PROMISE IN 1960
P.M. Regrets Delay (N.Z. Press Association) LEVIN, November 13. Delay in the provision of a hospital for the Horowhenua was the subject of some lively interjections when the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) addressed about 500 people in Levin today. He said lack of progress on the hospital project for Levin over the last two years had given him extreme displeasure. He had given certain instructions, but these had not been realised. The promise he had made at the last election was the only local promise he had made during his entire campaign in 1960 and he had not made it lightly. It had not been a political promise. “I felt a hospital in Levin was justified." Mr Holyoake repeated his promise to provide a hospital. The Prime Minister, today was suffering from a sore throat.
