Whataroa Hospital
Sir.—So the Westland Hospital Board had no comment on “Sick Chick’s" letter. Why does it wish to remain silent on matters which should be brought to the notice of the public? How many cases each year does the Whataroa Hospital serve? Many women travel away for their confinements if they are able to. At present the Whataroa Hospital is being run on uneconomical lines, a waste of the country’s finance, when better service could be given to the area by making it a cottage hospital. It is time the people of South Westland received better service. After all. we do pay taxes, the same as the rest of New Zealand. —Yours, etc., CURIOUS. November 7, 1963.
