STORAGE IN TAUPO
Steam Station Helps Saving (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 12. The Meremere steam power station is still being used at near-capacity level to conserve water in Lake Taupo, the main power storage lake which feeds the major hydro schemes on the Waikato river. The Electricity Department has so tar succeeded in maintaining the level of the lake so that there is just under four feet of controlled storage. About, an inch of rain has fallen in the Taupo watershed since the beginning of the month. The Meremere station has been used extensively since October 20. It has supplied about 23 million units a week.
