Tennis Sydney Series Upsets
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Nov. 11. One American Davis Cup team member was beaten and another taken to five sets in the New South Wales tennis championships at White City yesterday. Eliminated from the tournament was the team's fifthranked player. Gene Scott, who played well below the form expected for an international when he was beaten in straight sets by Barry Geraghty. Geraghty trounced Scott, 6-4. 6-1, 6-3. Frank Froehling beat a little-known Victorian, 21-year-old George Collins, 2-6, 8-6, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
