“GOWN OF THE YEAR”
Auckland Woman Wins
Mrs Chris Leonard, of Auckland, Won the 1963 “Gown of the Year” contest. Her winning gown, entitled “Sapphire,” after its colour, was richly embroidered with matching blue beading, and featured dramatic trails of sculptured self roses. It was worn with a matching coat which had a hood framed with sprays. Liz Craddock, participatiing in the contest for the first time, modelled both the winning gown and "Vienna bonbon,” which, won third prize. Second prize went to “Fiesta,” and “Chanitelle” was fourth. The placing® were announced at a final showing in Auckland recently when the Tam Cochrane trophy was presented by the Mayoress (Mrs D. M. Robinson).
