(NJ). Prut WELLINGTON. September «. Five grants to aid New Zealand literature, made on the recommendation of the Literary Fund Advisory Committee, have been announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Sir Leoe Gotz). | The £lOO award for achievement for works published in 1962 was divided between Hubert Witheford, a New Zealander living in' London, tar a collection of i poems called ‘"The Lightning Makes a Difference." and i Ruth Dallas, of Dunedin, fori a collection of poems called "The Turning Wheel.” i Hie Pegasus Press, Christchurch, would receive £125 towards the cost of publishing "A Map of Morning,” i a book of poems by Peter i Hooper. A grant of £l2B 10s will be made to the P.E.N. New Zealand centre to increase to, £5O each the amount of two grants from the Jessie Mackay aw-ard tar poetry and one from the Hubert Church award for prose. > Two awards are being made for poetry this year because there was none last year.
Publication of "Bread and a Pension,” poems by Louis Johnson, of Hastings, will be assisted by a grant of £l5O to the Pegasus Press, Cliristchurch.
