INVENTION IDEAS
Comfort And Ease (Special Cnpdt. NZPA.) LONDON, Aug. 20. A competition among “Daily Express” readers on what invention- they would most like to see has brought hundreds of replies. Some of them are: A typewriter ribbon which can be inserted with the ease of a safety razor blade. Something to turn the pages of a book while one is reading in bed on a cold night. An umbrella that does not have a centre handle and gives complete allround protection. A jiffy fuse mender for women living alone. Side doors into baths for elderly people who have to struggle to climb in . and out. A garment fitted with a heater for hands, feet and back, to be switched on when any part is extra cold. Devices to remove dust at the touch of a button and save monotonous, continual dusting round the house. An erasing key on a typewriter. Liquir which could be added to water to dissolve potato skins. A push-button disinfectant spray installed in kiosks to clean telephones after use. Some device to take the slam out of closing car doors. Machines to blow away fog in winter and clouds in summer.
