NEGLECTED DOG
Owner Fined £25 (N.Z. Pres* Association) AUCKLAND. August 20. Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., told Ronald Charles Absolum, aged 26, a workman, in the Magistrate's Court at Auckland today that he wished he could make an order preventing him from ever owning a dog or pet of any description. Absolum had pleaded guilty to not providing his greyhound with sufficient food, water, and shelter. He was fined £25. “This is a disgraceful case of neglect,” said the Magistrate. Senior-Sergeant G. A. Daltow said Absolum had been warned to improve living conditions flor the dog by an S.P.C.A inspector. The inspector later found the dog dead under a stack of timber to which it was chained. It had sores indicating that it had Lain in that position flor some time Nearby was a rusty tin containing black, stagnant water. In another tin were some bare mutton rib bones A veterinary surgeon could find no sign of disease and concluded that death was due to starvation.
