DECISION FOR LINES
Agreement On Bookings (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 20. An appeal by the Australian and New Zealand Passenger Conference of Shipping Lines against an order of the Trade Practices Commission rescinding a certain clause in the passenger booking agency agreement adopted by the lines, has been up held by the Appeal Authority (Judge Dalglish). The Chandris Line had lodged a complaint and the commission held that the clause was contrary to the public interest. In his decision upholding the appeal by the Conference Lines, Judge Dalglish says that although the dominant motive of the clause may have been to hamper the entry into the field and the growth of the business of non-Confer-ence Lines, the clause, in practice, had a very limited effect in that direction.
