MISSING YOUTH
Body Found By Searchers (N.Z. Press Association) ’ BLENHEIM, July 23. Searchers late last night found the body of a youth who went missing while shooting in the Marlborough Sounds. He was: Neil Lester, aged 19, a farm hand, of Christchurch. Mr Lester was employed on the farm of Mr G. M. Rogers, Manaroa Bay, Pelorus Sound.
The police said this morning it appeared the youth had fallen down a steep bluff while making his way back to his employer’s home after being out shooting on Sunday. He had multiple injuries. Settlers who searched unavailingly throughout the day yesterday were supplemented by a Search and Rescue group. They were to have
mounted a full-scale search from first light today. Neil Lester was a son of a well-known Christchurch man. Wing Commander A. G. Lester, who died recently. Mrs Lester is on an overseas trip. Another son is staying with relatives in Christchurch.
