KICK-INTO-TOUCH AMENDMENT
Auckland Union Gives Support
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 23. The Auckland Rugby Union decided at a special general meeting last night to support the introduction of the kick-into-touch amendment, but not to support the reintroduction of the 2-3-2 scrum.
Auckland did not support any remits limiting the length of the line-out or making the players stand at arm’s length in the line-outs.
It surprisingly voted out one of its own management committee’s rule-change recommendations—that which restricts loose "marauding” forwards. The recommendation was to prevent any player leaving the scrum before the ball came out.
