POWERS OF TRUSTS
Opposition To Wholesaling (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 22. A recommendation' that legislation establishing licensing trusts as wholesalers be repealed was defeated by one of the committees discussing remits at the National Party conference today. Proposing the motion, Mr E. A. Bolweli (St. Kilda), asked: “Should trusts be given wholesale licences in competition with private wholesalers who are already in business?” Mr N. D Scurr (St. Kilda) said the trusts had been created as retailers not wholesalers. Among speakers opposing the motion. Mr J. B Gordon. member of Parliament for Clutha. said there were two trusts in his area which bad been voted for by toe people in the two are% in a true democratic manner i Because of this he would not like to see trust control done away with as the trusts were doing fine work and providing a sen ice.
