Cashmere scored two tries to one and had a definite territorial advantage throughout the game particularly in the second spell. This advantage was made by a magnificent pack which gave its backs an abundant supply of the ball. However the Cashmere backs failed to match the skill of their forwards They often stood too deep, and were forced to run across field

The Christ’s College defence was excellent, the full-back. Ward saving brilliantly on numerous occasions and the second five-eighths Lake, tackling tigerishly.

The deciding factor was the goal-kicking. Andrews and ward kicked some fine goals for Christ's College One in particular by Andrews was a magnificent 45-yard effort. Cashmere sadly lacked a goal-kicker, both Thompson and Prusas missing kicks in front of the posts. In tlie winning pack none toiled harder than the props. Whittle and Carmichael. The latter endeavoured to use his weight to advantage by making barging runs from tap penalties. Andrews set a grand example and was often to the fore in forward rushes. In ffhe Cashmere pack. Trevella was a tower of strength in the line-outs and Rendall Played an excellent all-raund game. The outstanding forward on the field was the Cashmere captain. Grant, who hunted the ball relentlessly all day and looked extremely dangerous with his strong running.

For Christ’s College. Miller combined well with his first five-eighths Bromley who directed his back-line most capably Black showed plenty of pace on the wing, and was an elusive runner. In the Cashmere back-line. Walsh was a verv sound fullback. and Thompson was the onh- back to show any penetration. The latter scored a brilliant trv when he broke dean through the defence to run 30 van's and score under the costs Rvde. at half-back, varied his Plav well, and looked most promising
