HAZARDS FROM RADIATION
Course For Health Inspectors
New Zealand’s first course in radiation hazards for inspectors of health is being held at the Dominion X-ray and Radium Laboratory of the Department of Health Attending, as observers, are the principal inspector of health (Mr T. W. Adams, Wellington), and the senior inspector of health, Christchurch (Mr J B. Snoad). The health inspectors, selected from all over New Zealand, are spending four days at the laboratory on a theoretical and practical course on the detection and measurement of radiation and radio-activity. They are participating in lectures, practical demonstrations, and field exercises which will enable them to deal with some radiation contamination problems which might occur in their health districts, including certain aspects of the industrial use of radioisotopes and checks on radio-active substances in transit
