Mangere Dispute Not Settled
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 12.
The 23 grader and truck drivers who went on strike at Mangere airport on Tuesday when one of their number was transferred to a labouring job did not return to work today. They held a meeting at Mangere this morning and then returned home.
Mr P A. R. Hodge, project manager for the contractors, Taylor, Woodrow, Wilkins and Davies, agreed to a proposal by the Labour Department that the dispute be dealt with by the conciliation commissioner.
Japan in Space.—The National Space Activities Council said today it would recommend Japan launch a domestically-made earth satellite within five years using a United States-made rocket. —Tokyo, June 12.
