N.Z. Policy On Rhodesia
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 10. "I have always believed in the freedom of the press to explain its opinions,” the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said today. He was commenting on 'a report that the Government is believed to have told the British Government that it was solidly opposed to the granting of complete independence to Southern Rhodesia unless major changes were made to the constitution. ‘‘Our thoughts on this have been thrown into the crusible of Commonwealth opinion,” Mr Holyoake said. The Government had been kept fully informed of developments by the British Government, he said.
