TROUT BAGS TOO BIG
Taupo Limit Cut To 20
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 10.
New trout fishing regulations for the Rotorua and Taupo fishing districts were announced today by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Sir Leon Gotz). Provisions include a daily bag limit of 20 rainbow trout in the Taupo district, introduction of monthly licences for both districts and reduced licence fees.
The daily bag limit has been introduced to prevent a few fishermen who have recently been criticised for making very large catches, Sir Leon Gotz said. ‘‘The provision is designed not to affect the enjoyment of even the luckiest average fisherman,” he added.
