TRAWLER LEAKING
Refloated At Whangarei
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 10.
The trawler, St. George, is expected to reach Auckland in the early hours tomorrow morning after being refloated at Whangarei today. The Srt. George radioed for help in the early hours of this morning after striking a sandbank at Marsden Point, Whangarei. When she refloated on the rising tide about 8 am. a small leak threatened to damage the engine if it were used. Another Auckland trawler, the Waipawa, which had been standing by, towed the St. George as fair south as Leigh. She was met by toe Warkworth Volunteer Fire Brigade with a pump and Captain G. W. Dunsford, who had rushed from Auckland by road with another pump. The 48ft trawler was soon pumped out but the leak could not be repaired and one pump had to be left aboard. The trawler sailed for Auckland under her own power about 6 pm.
