Library Rise Fixed
An increase in the library rate by jd in the £ to l?d v as decided by the Lyttelton B 'rough Council at its meeting last night. The increase would bring in an additional £244. This was the only raite in Lvttelton to be increased for 1963-64. The council decided to strike the same general rate ar last year of 2s 9jd in the £ Other rates, which will remain the same for 1963-64, were: Water rate, 3ld in the £; end Diamond Harbour water and sewerage loan rate. Is 5d in the £. In presenting the recomn .endartions of the finance committee to the council, the < mmittee’s chairman (Cr. R 11 Duff' said the estimated expenditure for 1963-64 was 154,220. This did not, however, take into consideration a sum of nearly £6OOO fur capital works. The counc: decided to investigate the possibility of raising a loan to cover this expenditure.
