Sir, —lit is true a protest was made by ratepayers like myself 'a widow living on unearned income), who every year gets hit harder and harder. This year an extra
levy by the Transport and the Drainage Board; now the council itself. One cannot understand why women like myself who have saved to get a home and appreciate that home and care for it and love it should be in ths end forced to give up and either go into a flat or a home. We are paying for a majority of people who pay nothsng towards the amenities of this city. There should be a general levy of 5s a year and that would be a relief for iiie ratepayer.—Yours, etc., IRATE RATEPAYER May 30, 1963.
