NEW BUILDINGS FOR WAIMAIRI
Architect A "Waste Of Money”
It would be an absolute
■‘waste of money” to get an architect to draw up the plans for additions to the Waimairi County Council’s buildings, said Cr. O. C. Mitchell at the council’s monthly meeting last evening. He was commenting on a suggestion by the chairman <Mr J. I. Colligan) that an architect should be employed rather than a draughtsman The chairman said a draughtsman had designed the present building and it was impossible to extend it in any direction. Another building would have to be erected.
Cr. W. E. Cassidy said the plans had been approved by the whole council and one man should not be blamed
‘The council’s own draughtsmen are too busy and we would have to get an outside draughtsman in any case.” he said. At this stage, the council went into committee.
