£l588 LOSS ON YEAR
Finances Of St. John Assn.
The Canterbury and West Coast centre of the St. John Ambulance Association had a loss of £l5BB 15s 2d last year, compared with a loss of £BOB in 1961. The loss would, however, be reduced when the North Canterbury Hospital Board's grant was determined, said the chairmen of the centre’s finance and executive advisory sub-com-mittee (Mr D. H. Lawrence). “It is only too evident from these figures that urgent measures must be taken to increase the income of the association,” he said. During 1962, a further business-house collector and house-to-house coli -ctor were employed by the association in an endeavour to augment the funds, he said. Although individual donations made during the year had increased over previous years, the increases had been little more than■ sufficient to meet rising expenditure. said Mr Lawrence. Legacies from the following estates were received during the year: W. J. Philpott (£7O 15s 2d>, L. Martin (£l2B 7s). A. A. Dunlap (£200), H. J. Barker (£l3O, W. W. Carruthers (£400), T Walker (£100), and F. Young (£1 13s).
