£lm. Cargo Arrives (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright/ LONDON. March 29 One of the largest cargoes of New Zealand lamb ever shipped to Britain—enough to provide lib of meat for more than 12 million people —has arrived in London, the “Daily Express” reported. It is being unloaded from the Shaw Savill line’s 13.400-ton. Megantic. Among the £1 million cargo of 388,139 carcasses of lamb are some of this year’s prize-winning New Zealand lambs The deputy chairman of the shipping lipe, Mr John A. MacConochie. said yesterday the Megantic had had a wonderful maiden voyage He said a sister ship was being launched on the Tyne (county Durham) to do the same sort of job. Freight charges on the lamb brought 12,000 sea miles is 3d per lb—only one farthing up on the cost of the first cargo of refrigerated lamb brought to London 81 years ago, the “Daily Express” reported.
