FILM UNIT AT UNIVERSITY
Mr F. Chilton, director of the National Film Unit working at the University of Canterbury, said yesterday:— “It is reported in ‘The Press’ that university botany students, ‘warned that they would be filmed ait work, turned on such a display of white Shirts, blouses and frocks that it ruined colour values’ and ‘wrecked one sequence.’ This is entirely untrue. We did not film botany students at work on this location. No sequences were ‘wrecked’ by staff or students On the contrary, everyone with whom we worked at the university showed a ready appreciation of the need to present an authentic picture of university life and we are most grateful to them for their great assistance throughout the filming.” "The Press” last evening confirmed that a large economics class was, in fact, told that excessive white clothing had caused trouble in filming, but the lecturer concerned said he had apparently been misinformed.
