Verwoerd’s Claim (N ,Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) CAPE TOWN. Mar. 26. The South African Prime Minister (Dr. Verwoerd) told Parliament today that there was "a crisis’’ in South Africa.
He was speaking in the Budget debate in reply to Opposition claims that the Government had mishandled suppression of the Poqo unr derground terrorist organisation.
Dr. Verwoerd said he agreed with the interim report on last year’s Paarl riots.
The report said Poqo attacks had increased to “alarming proportions’* and recommended special legislation to deal with the situation.
