CROCODILE MAN TO DIE
( N.Z J* .A.-Reuter—Copyright) BLANTYRE (Nyasaland), March 26. An African who claimed he had changed into a crocodile by magic and then been hired to kill an African girl was sentenced to death today for murder.
The dead girls’ grandfather, Odreck Kasoci, who hired Elard Chipandale, also was sentenced to death.
Elard was said to have disguised himself as a crocodile in March, 1959, dragged the girl, Mponda Sementi, into a river and stabbed her.
Three African assesors fitting with the Nyasaland Chief Justice Sir Edgar Unsworth) told the Judge yesterday they believed Elard had turned himself into a crocodile.
Governor Visits Borstal.— The Governor-General (Sir Bernard Fergmson) paid a visit to the Invercargill Borstal today in the course ot his Southland tour. —(PA.)
