Savings Bank Facilities
Sir,—The rather rancorous letter of your correspondent, "Province Before Shareholders,” merits only one comment. Trustee savings banks surely do not need protection from trading-bank competition. No-one will be compelled to open a savings account at a trading bank if the merits of our case are recognised and we are allowed to provide our customers with the savings facilities common in other countries. It will be simply a matter of freedom of choice. —Yours, etc.. J. W. ROWE, Research Director, N.Z. Bankers’ Association. March 25, 1963.
