Postal Service
Sir,—How is this for speed and efficiency? I had a letter, postmarked on Monday from Dunedin, and I was actually reading it on Thursday afternoon of the same week. Fantastic! Funnily enough, a letter posted in Sydney last Monday, I was reading here in Christchurch on Wednesday. Why should a letter take three whole days to make the journey from Dunedin to Christchurch. The letter had the zone clearly marked. —Yours, etc., ZONE AND MOAN. March 22, 1963. [The Chief Postmaster (Mr C. J. C. Simpson) said: “Letters posted in Dunedin up until 6 p.m. are normally delivered in Christchurch the next day. If the correspondent will forward the envelope of the relative letter, the delay mentioned will be investigated.’’]
