Boxing WORLD COUNCIL FORMED

National Bodies Join Forces

A new organisation, the World Boxing Council, was formed yesterday with the announced aim of establishing unified, world-wide control of the sport. Joining forces to set up the new governing body were the National Boxing Association of the United States, the British Boxing Board of Control, the European Boxing Union, the Oriental Boxing Federation, and the Latin-American Boxing Union.

A spokesman said the delegates hoped to persuade the New York Commission to Join the council at another meeting today. All the member organisations are to have equal rights within the council.
