Nominations Of Officers

The president of the Canterbury branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants (Mr G. Finlayson) has been nominated as secretary in the election of officers for the branch now being held by secret ballot Mr Finlayson is opposing Mr A. E. Armstrong, the secretary for the last two years. Messrs M. Benfell, T. Sweeney, and A. E. Lester have been nominated for the president of the union. The vice-president (Mr C. W. J. WalkUn) is being opposed by Mr W. Hoare. The treasurer (Mr R. Mora) has been re-elected unopposed. Mr Armstrong has also been nominated as national president of the union and will oppose the present president (Mr D. M. Kane), who is a member of the Addington Workshops branch of the A.S.R.S. Nominations for the national presidency have not yet closed. Ballot papers in the Canterbury branch election of officers must be in the hands of the returning officer (Mr A. Cairns) by March 1.
