Building Found For Plant
(From Our Own Reporter) HOKITIKA, Jan. 31. A further stage has been reached in the establishment
of a greenstone souvenir industry in Hokitika, as suitable premises havs been found for the cutting and polishing plant The company has obtained the use of the harbour board building to Gisbon quay. Space has been made available and machinery will be installed as soon u it arrives from Auckland. The chairman of directors of Westland Greenstone, Ltd., Mr N. G. Stiver, of Auckland, has met local ttiareholders of the company at Its first annual meeting, and will travel to the claim at Olderog creek this week-end with three local directors.
Diamond machinery for breaking down the boulders to a size where they can be flown out by helicopter at later stages has been imported, and is now in Hokitika.
Mr Silver will instruct the three other directors in the use of the diamond boring machinery. He will then return to Auckland with Mr Allen, who will undertake a course in converting the cut stone to the finished article.
