GRASS FIRES
There were two grass fires alongside the railway line between Papanui and Northoote yesterday morning. One unit from the St. Albans station answered a cell at 812 a.m. to a grass fire by the line where it crosses Tuckers road, and 13 minutes later, a undit from central was sent to a similar fire alongside the line near Vaguea road. A small grass fire at Christchurch Airport was brought under control by units from the Sockbum station and the Airport about 1.30 p.m. before any damage was caused. One unit from Sockburn attended a rubbish fire on the property of A. R. Freeman, LXd, 23 Watts rood, Sockbum, at 7.38 pm.
