Similar experiments were carried out on 13 nightdresses ot different materials. nylon mow ond tmteu winceyette proved to be safe in that they either did not bum at all or any flame which was produced went out almost immediately. The other nine were totally destroyed in times ranging from five to 27 seconds. The association advises any person whose nightdress catches fife to lie down immediately and roll on the floor. This gives the flames less chance of rereading and the risk of facial burns or inhaling smoke and fumes is lessened. If others are present when the accident happens they should roll the victim in a rug or blanket keeping Ms head outside, the association advises The. impulse for the wearer to run away from the danger can often prove fatal in a clothing fire, says the report
