New Backstroke Time (NX. Preu Association) WELLINGTON, January 33. _ Th* brilliant Hutt swimmer, R. Walker, aged U. eat two new record, tonight when the Welangtom swimming championshine began at Naenae. Walker established a new national time to the 110yds juni r boys' backstroke final. He returned a time of imin IS.Saoc. breaking the current record, held by B. Clarke (Auckland), by .lays. The time alee bettered his own junior national record for the event Walker also won hit only other swim of the evening, the final of the junior boys 1 440yda freestyle in centre record time. He won by the length ot the pool in 4mln 44»ec, cutting Saee off hia old time. Fifteen centre records were broken tonight. Eleven records were broken by junior*. The senior record-breakers. F H,tch Hatch established fresh figures in the men's 110yds butterfly fins snd the 330yds treestyle lilial. Mias Moore’s record came tn Um women’s riOyda backstroke Anal.
