Propaganda In Schools

Educational kitsets labelled, “To smoke or not to smoke,” are being sent to every secondary school in New Zealand by the Auckland division of toe British Empire Cancer Campaign Society. The kitsets consist of an 80-frame, coloured, 35-milli-metre film, together with a recording and other material. The film gives a background to toe problem of lung cancer and its association with cigarette amok“Sw kitsets were sent to Auckland secondary schools last year as a pilot scheme to determine their effectiveness.
The managing-secretary of tl.e society, Mr R. N. Stevenson, said the scheme had proved successful and 315 more kitsets were being sent to all other New Zealand secondary schools. A film, entitled "Is Smoking Worth It," is being obtained from the United States by the society. This film will be available to schools on loan.
