Christmas Seals Profit £339
Before Christmas, 86 food parcels were sent by the executive of the Christchurch and West Coast Tuberculosis
Association to the families of sufferers from tuberculosis.
The contents of the parcels, which cost £l3l, were bought, packed, wrapped and delivered by members of the Sanatorium Service Committee, to whom the executive at its monthly meeting, expressed its sincere gratitude for their voluntary work.
The secretary (Mr B. F. Anderson) reported that many letters of appreciation had been received from grateful recipients of the parcels. The financial report showed that the profit from the sale of Christmas seals was £339. Seventeen applications for relief of various kinds were received and help given in all cases.
The Arthur’s Pass cottage continued to be used by grateful former patients or their families who left it in very good order. Renovations, planned by the architect (Mr Paul Pascoe) will be undertaken soon, the chairman (Mr C, A. . Rattray) reported.
