TANNERY DISPUTE

WELLINGTON, Jan. 29
A representative of tne Dunedin tannery of Glendermid, Ltd., which is in dispute with the Otago Trades Council, today saw the Secretary of Labour (Mr H. L. Bockett). The dispute concerns the dismissal of six workers, one of them the president of the council, Mr W. B. Richards, ft has been alleged they did not report back for work immediately after holidays. Mr Bockett said the firm was seeking the Implications of accepting a Federation of Labour proposal that the dispute be referred to voluntary arbitration. The representative would report back to the firm, which should know within a few days whether it would accept the proposal
