Teacher Sent To Prison
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Jan. 29.
A 45-year-old British school teacher, Reginald George Edward Webb, was imprisoned for 18 months and recommended for deportation when he appeared for sentence before Mr J. F. Keane, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Lower Hutt today on a charge of indecent assault on a male under 16. “You cannot have your liberty. You would be a menace to the morals of other young boys,” said the Magistrate. “The least sentence I can impose is 18 months’ imprisonment. You have been in the country less than five years and you are obviously not the type of immigrant we want in this country.”
