DAVIS CUP TIE
End Of March Suggested (N.Z. Preu Association) WELLINGTON, January 28. Proposed dates for New Zealand's match against the Philippines in the first round of the Davis Cup tennis competition are March 28, 29 and 30. The match will be played in Manila on a clay surface. A letter from the Philippines was tabled at tonight’s meeting of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association's management committee. The Japanese, the most likely opponents for the winner of the New ZealandPhilippines tie, have suggested April 18, 20 and 21 for the second-round match, with elay again as the surface. New Zealand has been Invited to send two players to the Malayan championships from April 2-6. I. S. Crookenden and Miss E. Green were suggested by the Malayan association as possible visitors. The meeting resolved to seek clsriflcatlon of the financial terms of the visit, bearing tn mind that the Davis Cup team would probably be available and to ask Miss Green If she would be Interested tn making the trip either alone or accompanied by another woman player.
