The Christchurch Rifle Chib, by defeating the Walau Rifle Club, held off the fourth challenge for the Canterbury Rifle Association's Oakes Shield this season, defeating in line Timaru, Ashburton and Malvern. Conditions at Tai Tapu range were favourable, with a northeasterly breeze. For the holders. Christchurch. R E. Taylor was top scorer with 100 points out of a possible 105. including a possible st 300 yards. B. Hoban, for Walau. was top for his team with 90. also Including a possible at 300 yards. V. Curtis, for the winners, also shot a possible at 300 yards. Scores were:
