HOME FOR MARIA
(New Zealand Press Asjociatkm)
WELLINGTON, Jan. 28.
Maria, the newly-born baby girl found wrapped in newspaper on the pathway of a Newtown home four week* ago, has found a permanent home, and her foster parents hope to adopt her. At Wellington Hospital today, sorrow by the nurses at the departure of their tiny guest was tempered with the knowledge she would be cared for by loving foster parents.
She was given a memorable send-off by the hospital staff, and her wardrobe was quite extensive. All the clothing came as gifts from people moved by her plight The gifts included a money box filled with coins and bank notes.
From eight young children came a present with this measage: “We bought these
with money we raised from a sweet stall."
There were numerous other gifts, and a* some of th* donors gave no address th* Child Welfare Department said today it wished to express sincere gratitude on behalf of Maria and to assure all sender* that their gifts were received and appreciated.
