WAIMAKARIRI RESULTS
The third heat of the Waimakariri Yacht Club’s R class championship was sailed on Saturday. Fantastic, sailed by the Cooke brothers, took the lead at the start and held it until the finish. Tempest and Beta changed positions several times, with Tempest sailing steadily to finish second. All three boats which finished in the Finn class championship were disqualified for sailing an incorrect course. In Sunday’s race, the first heat for the Aotearoa Cup, Fantastic outsailed the rest in the gusty conditions to win easily from a fleet of twelve.
