TOKELAU Is. SCHOOLBOYS
Scholarships In N.Z. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 27. Three schoolboys from the Tokelau Islands arrived in Auckland today in the Matua. They are the first students from these islands to gain New Zealand scholarships. The boys are: Isua Faamaoni, aged 12, of Atafu Island; Falaniko Aukuso, aged 13, of Nukunono Island; and Amosa Faafoi, aged 14. of Fakaofo Island.
They were top pupils at their schools and will now complete their education in New Zealand. They will be going home from time to time to visit their families.
Mr Hasea Kirifi, a schoolteacher from Fakaofo Island, who came with them, will spend six months in Maori schools in the North Island following an observation course organised by the Island Education Office. Wellington. The boys will spend the first years of their schooling in the Masterton district
