Nudism

Sir,—l endorse the view expressed in this morning’s issue by Dr. Jepson, Christchurch Medical Officer of Health, on nudism, the benefits of which have to be experienced to be believed. Not only does nudism benefit physically those who practise it; there is also the mental approach. Sun clubs say that the nude figure in an art gallery is held to be a work of art and the same applies to the nude living figure. There is nothing evil about the human body. It is all good, and very good; the only shame, if any, lies in its abuse. Nudism is a somewhat personal subject, of course, that has to be introduced with a certain amount of care. Therefore, the comments from such a source will be of material assistance in letting others know of the pure enjoyment and healthgiving benefits to be derived from the practice of nudism —of course, with the proper safeguards and under the auspices of legally-constituted organisations.—Yours, etc., H.M.M.
