Master Traffic Plan
Sir, —Three years to hatch it, three minutes to scotch it, consequent on Aramoana, road tunnel, airport siting and hands off Hagley Park. Aramoana obviates the necessity for channelling transport of inter-island trade through Riccarton to Christchurch The rail link from Hornby to Styx becomes necessary, leaving the road tunnel to carry goods to and from overseas ships. A new road becomes necessary leaving the Main South road about Rolleston and connecting to the Picton road about Amberley, going west of Rangiora. The northern outlet needs widening of the traffic bridge over the Waimakariri and straightening about Woodeni To provide better access to airport, a new road' from Clyde road to connect to Harper avenue and widening of Carlton bridge are required. It should not be necessary to carry air freight to the centre of the city only to fan out from there Fendalton road does not lend itself for a main highwav.—Yours, etc., CHAS. E. ALLEN.
