Loss Of Micro Lenses

The loss of two micro lenses while playing for Canterbury in representative matches this season was the subject of a claim on the Canterbury Rugby Union’s accident fund by the provincal half-back, B. A. Coulter. last night. Although the contingency is not specifically covered in the rules, the management committee of the union decided to meet the claim, which amounted to £25 4s—£l2 12s for each lens. Mr W. D. Johnston termed the claim unusual, and said it was the first of its kind to come before the union. He read a letter from the Marist club—of which Coulter is a member—saying that Coulter had lost a lens playing for Canterbury against Wellington and another lens in the game against Buller. Coulter had also lost a lens while playing for Canterbury against West Coast at Greymouth on the Queen’s Birthday, so he had now lost three for the season, said Mr S. R. Southall. Moving that the claim be met, Mr H. C, Blazey said that Coulter had been selected and had played for Canterbury, and should be treated as an injured player.
