Rugby WAIKATO’S CHALLENGE
Auckland May Be Tested (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. August 31. Auckland may be faced with a particularly hard challenge far the Ranfurly Shield tomorrow. when it meets Waikato. The overwhelming defeat of Waikato by North Auckland and the decline of D. B Clarke’s form would suggest an easy victory to the Auckland side. However, both Waikato and Clarke have such a proud history that they—the team and the man—are likely to react strenuously to any suggestion that they are below their best form. The rain and thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon and evening did not arrive and the field has recovered from the downpours of Wednesday and Thursday. The teams are:— Waikato.—D B. Clarke. N. R Blackburn. M. H. Raureti, J. W Riley, D. R. Wood. R W Kemp. M. I. H Cathro, E A R Pickering, F. S. O'Kane, B. E Clarke, G. A. Clarke. B. A Guest. I. J. Clarke, G. J Wright, J. T. Porima.
