ONE KILLED, SIX HURT
Cars Collide On Hutt Road

WELLINGTON, Aug. 26.
A man died and six were injured when two heavy cars collided head on on the Hutt road early this morning. The dead man was: Francis John Shearer, aged
39. of Masterton. The injured, now in Wellington Hospital, are: Mr M. Ranginiwa. a factory worker, of Te Kuiti, severe lacerations to his left hand; Mr W Hepburn, a garage proprietor, of Masterton, severe shock, concussion and head injuries; Mr W. Turnbull, a clerk, of Masterton, severe shock, lacerations to the forehead and suspected concussion; Mr J. Takiari. a factory worker, of Te Kuiti. concussion and shock; and Mr J. Kato, a labourer, of Te Kuiti, severe lacerations to the scalp and shock. Another man, whose name was not known late tonight, was reported by the Wellington ambulance to be suffering from severe head injuries.
