Wool Prices Figures are now available to allow a comparison to be made between prices paid for wool at the first Christchurch sale last Monday and at the same sale of the 1961-62 season. The catalogues of two of the brokers averaged between 2d and 3d per lb less than last year. In on’ case there was a decline from 37JSd last year to 34.37 d on Monday and for the other catalogue the average fell from 36.64 d to 34.12 d. Another firm reported that the average for its catalogue had dropped by barely Id from 34.79 d to 33.8 d—the relative smallness of this decline being apparently due to an increase in the proportion of fleece wool included in the catalogue.
