When M. C. M. Cormack kicked the last two points in Auckland’s 52-6 win over West Coast on Saturday he scored Auckland's 1000th point in Ranfurly Shield matches. The victory also created another record, for Auckland has now won 46 shield matches, against Canterbury's 45.
Both hold the record of 69 shield matches. The details for the two unions are:—
Auckland: played 69, won 46. drew 2. lost 21, points for 1000. against 645. Canterbury, 69 45, 3. 21. 986. 648.
